Active ingredient: Colestyramine
Each sachet contains 4 g of colestyramine (anhydrous base).
White or creamy white powder with a slightly sweet STRAWBERRY FLAVOUR.
Powder for oral suspension.
RESINCOLESTIRAMINA is European product (made in Spain).
Indications
– Treatment of hypercholesterolaemia: lowering of total and LDL-cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolaemia, including familial hypercholesterolaemia, or secondary as a supplement to diet and other treatments, when the response to these measures proves inadequate.
– Pruritus associated to partial biliary obstruction or primary biliary cirrhosis.
Dosage and route of administration
Posology
Adults:
The recommended dose is one sachet (4 g of colestyramine) between 3 and 4 times a day (equivalent to 12-16 g of colestyramine a day).
Pediatric population:
The recommended dose is half a sachet (2 g of colestyramine) between 2 and 4 times a day (equivalent to 4-8 g of colestyramine a day), though it is preferable to administer the total daily dosage in only two doses, before breakfast and dinner.
Method of administration
Administration via the oral route.
The prescribed dose should be added to half a glass of water, milk, or fruit juice, and should be administered.
