Description
Each vial contains 63.51 mg calcium folinate, equivalent to 50 mg folinic acid, equal to levo-folinic acid 25 mg
Indications:
- a) SANIFOLIN is indicated as an antidote to excessive doses of folic acid antagonists and reducing the toxic effects induced by aminopterin (4-aminopteroil-glutamic acid) and methotrexate (4-amino acid N-methyl-10-glutamic pteroil).
- b) in combination with 5-fluorouracil in cytotoxic therapy.
- c) SANIFOLIN is also indicated in all anemic forms of folate deficiency due to increased demand, reduced utilization or insufficient dietary intake of folate.
Dosage and route of administration:
- In the treatment of colorectal cancer, in combination with fluoropyrimidine, the dose of calcium folinate is determined according to the chemotherapy protocols adopted. The dosages most frequently used in combination with 5-fluorouracil are 200 mg / m2 / day (equal to levo-folinic acid 100 mg / m2 / day) for 5 consecutive days by slow infusion (10 min.) Every 4 weeks or 500 mg / m2 / week (equal to levo-folinic acid 250 mg / m2 / week) for 6 weeks followed by 2 interval.
- In rescue from high doses of Methotrexate calcium folinate it is effective in the prevention of myelosuppression at doses of 200 mg / m2 (equal to levo-folinic acid 100 mg / m2) for serum levels of 10-6M Methotrexate.
The doses may be increased in proportion to blood levels of higher antiblastic.
- In the megaloblastic anemias therapy folate deficiency treatment with SANIFOLIN 10 mg (corresponding to levo- acid folinic 5 mg) per day for 10-15 days. In the event of a favorable response, the dose can be halved continuing until normalization of the blood picture and the disappearance of clinical signs.
